As a couple you may need support at any time during your relationship. You may be experiencing difficulties around something that is quite major, or something that seems almost trivial or maybe it feels that the relationship is no longer working for one or both of you and you’re unsure why or what to do about it. Whatever difficulty it is that you are experiencing, if you are unable to resolve it on your own, then counselling can help.
Issues that are unresolved don’t go away but resurface at any given opportunity, which is why you may find you are stuck in destructive patterns of behaviour. Without satisfactory resolution, resentment builds up and constructive communication breaks down.......and you stop listening and understanding each other.
The benefits of counselling are that you are both able to talk about and explore, in a safe environment, what it is like for each of you being in your relationship.
It may be the first time in a long time, for both of you, that you are able to say what you want to say and feel listened to, heard and understood............not only by the counsellor but by each other.
No two relationships are the same and what works for one couple isn’t necessarily right for another. But given the choice we would all choose to be in a happy, healthy, fulfilling relationship and counselling can help you to achieve this and move forward with the relationship that you both want.
